βWe needed our septic tank cleaned. Contacted them through email for a quote, including that email was a better form of contact vs by phone. They got back to me within hours with a quote and with availability just a few days out for service if I was interested (all by email, which I appreciated). It was a bit cheaper than I had expected, $350 overall. They let me know day of that they arrived and double checked on if there were any areas of concern, including that if there were any issues they'd let me know immediately (everything went smoothly though). They emailed the invoice after they were done, payment was super easy and straightforward. I'd say 5/5. Good service, price, communication, personable. Will definitely be returning for future service needs.β β Gwen, βββββ

βThe owner-operator came to pump my septic tank. He wasn't able to remove the lid, so he decided to leave and charge a show-up fee. First I asked if we could waive the fee if I still used him to do the work after the lid is removed by someone else. He declined to do so. Then I asked for an invoice for the fee before I paid it, he told me they aren't able to provide invoices -- "we only bill." After refusing to pay until I received an invoice, he called me a liar and threatened to place a lien on my property. After explaining to him I would not be paying without a written invoice (he wanted me to hand him cash), he called his assistant, and she emailed me an invoice within minutes. As soon as I received the invoice, I wrote him a check. He then accused me of planning to cancel the check. At that point, I told him to leave my property. Despite telling him repeatedly to leave, but he didn't make any effort to move toward his truck until I told him he was trespassing. I recommend no one ever use Payless Septic Service.β β Holden Mugford, β
βCame out same day after they heard we had an emergency situation with our septic. Fixed the issue, gave advice, and was VERY reasonable. I'd use them again in a heart-beat.β β Travis Stockton, βββββ

βPaid for them to put on a riser and pump my septic system they didn't even finish pumping it completely and the hose clogged up or their system quit working they also agreed to fill in the dirt from the hole I excavated out and had to rent an excavator they didn't finish filling the dirt back and still wanted the full payment I made a full payment over $1,000 it had been over a month and they never came out to fill the dirt in then when they did they trashed the yard all I had was one pile of dirt that needed to be filled in and they trashed the whole yard with tracks and ruts and scraped up a ton of yard just to fill in over the tank lid. I'll update the review better if they come out and make it right but it's awful right now.β β Matt Bowers, β
βProfessionals at there job. Strongly recommended for sewer/septic problems. Good buisness, no bs.β β Dustin Humphrey, βββββ

Frequently Asked Questions
How often should I pump my septic tank?
Most septic tanks should be pumped every 3-5 years, depending on household size, tank capacity, and water usage. A family of four with a 1,000-gallon tank typically needs pumping every 3 years. Regular pumping prevents solids from entering the drain field and extends your system's lifespan.
How much does septic pumping cost in Lafayette?
Septic pumping in Lafayette, Indiana typically costs between $300 and $600, depending on tank size (750-1,500 gallons), accessibility, and the service provider. Request quotes from multiple companies listed above for the best price.
What are signs my septic system needs repair?
Warning signs include: slow drains throughout the house, sewage odors near the tank or drain field, standing water or soggy spots in the yard, gurgling sounds in pipes, unusually lush grass over the drain field, and sewage backing up into the home. If you notice any of these, contact a professional immediately.
Do I need a permit for septic installation in Indiana?
Yes, Indiana requires permits for new septic system installations and most major repairs. Permits ensure systems meet health and environmental standards. Your septic installer will typically handle the permit process, but fees are usually $200-$1,000 depending on your location.
How long does a septic system last?
A well-maintained septic system can last 25-40 years or more. Concrete tanks last the longest (40+ years), while steel tanks may only last 15-20 years before rusting. The drain field typically lasts 20-30 years. Regular pumping, proper use, and prompt repairs are key to maximizing your system's lifespan.
What is the difference between a septic tank and sewer?
A septic system is a private, on-site wastewater treatment system owned and maintained by the homeowner. A sewer system connects your home to a municipal treatment plant that processes wastewater from the entire community. Septic systems require regular pumping (every 3-5 years), while sewer systems charge monthly fees for centralized treatment.
