βThe family in charge of this business is amazing! I'm so glad I called them. I called them at 9pm on a Sunday because as new homeowners we don't know what we are doing, they came out next day and did the job for us no problems. Easy to work with and very friendly people. I think we found out septic company! Thank you guys!!β β Susan Vereb, βββββ
βI called Save Septic to pump my septic while I was awaiting another company to get me a quote for replacing my stressed system. The other company couldn't even get out to pump the tank while I was awaiting their quote. Kevin came right out the next day and pumped the system. When I made the appointment, I explained that there was a company that we had already started with and we had soil samples and specs already completed. The woman at Save said they did replacements too, and that she could get a quote for me. Several phone calls and over a month later, I had quotes from Save Septic, Creed, and Turnock's. Still no quote from the original company that I started the process with. We decided on Save Septic, based on a few factors. One being that they are a local small business, and of course, another being price. It was a long process that involved moving the well & relocating the gas service, but in the end, we are more than pleased with the service that we received from Kevin and his team at Save Septic. We would recommend them to anyone looking for a responsive, professional company. They were here when they said they would be, and the job was completed in the original time frame with no surprises. Very happy to have it done, and that it was handled so professionally by Save Septic.β β Margie Kotcamp, βββββ

βG4 Septic replaced our septic system and if I could give them 6 stars or more for this review, I would! George was very easy to work with right from the beginning of the project and everything about his work was excellent. Communication was fantastic from start to finish, and he completed the job exactly when he said he would. Our specific job was not an easy one. We had to replace an 80 year old system in a very tight space that required a new tank and drywell system. George worked with the inspector and managed that whole process very well. These units were massive, and they were able to navigate the limited space very well and got the units placed exactly where they needed to be. We passed the inspection with ease, and everything was patched up and put back together beautifully. My father, who spent 30 years building custom new homes commented on the work, "I have never seen a yard put back together as nicely and well-leveled as this after septic work has been done!" Quite high praise for G4 Septic. As a homeowner, needing to have septic work is typically not fun. But if you find yourself in need, call George at G4 Septic!β β Evan Walker, βββββ
βGeorge came to my property to make an estimate in person. He made a proposal and quote for a new septic system that was lower cost than competitive quotes. He contacted the health department to make sure the new proposed system was acceptable before beginning any work. The work was done over a weekend. George was very professional, and answered all of our questions during the process. I can highly recommend G4 Septic.β β Jeff Williams, βββββ

βI talked with a few companies before deciding who to go with for our new septic system. Then I met Joe from Huff Septic, and after he walked me through everythingβhow theyβd place it, how theyβd try to save the trees, what to expectβI knew they were the right choice. They did exactly what he said they would. The crew worked hard, saved most of our trees, and got the job done cleanly and professionally. I included a photo to show how tight the space was around the trees, but they still managed to make it work and keep us happy. When I went in to make the final payment, I met the owner tooβanother great guy. The whole family is down-to-earth, easy to talk to, and you can tell they genuinely care about their work.β β Michael Tech, βββββ
βThis company is amazing!! I love talking to the ladies in the office and to all the "Joe's" that work there. They definitely know what they are doing.... always communicate & fast on getting to the job site and look forward to keep working with them.β β Donna Tolley, βββββ

βJust great humans! On New Years eve I walked out in my back yard and found grey water running out of my septic lid. I called every septic business listed on the Google search near me. The ONLY call back we got was from Brian with Krueger's Septic Services within about 10 minutes. When I say only call back, even 2 days later we still have not received a call back from messages left from any other business. The conversation I had over the phone with Brian put me at ease knowing I had someone who was going to help my family. Being right around the new year holiday I wasn't sure, but Brian made it clear immediately we would be taken care of. Brian and I worked out the details in one phone conversation and he had us on the schedule. I can only assume the fee was fair due to no other company returning calls to compare it to. When his team showed up they were fantastic as well! They got right to work and found the filter was plugged up. They drained the tank, pulled, and cleaned the filter. Reinstalled the filter and replaced the lid all in less than 30 minutes. Great group of people and a great local business! Highly recommend!β β Eric Clark, βββββ
βIt was just before the holidays and my septic backed up on me. I called Krueger's and they came out the next day. They are incredibly kind and professional. I would and will recommend them to anyone. Thank you Krueger's,Happy New Year!β β Judith, βββββ

βNorway helped me out with my septic tank for FREE! I gave them a call and even though I was outside their area, the owner of the company personally walked me through what to do and I was able to unclog a pipe on my own. He also educated me greatly on the tank and gave me recommendations of who to use in the future. This company went way above and beyond for me and my family.β β Emerson Bandemer, βββββ

βWe are in the process of having a new mound septic installed by the Turnocks' Family. What a great group of people! No one wants to have their septic fail. No one wants to deal with the county and all the soil scientists and the designers and permits. Anyone who knows, knows - it's a long process. Turnocks' has been fantastic every step of the way. They've coordinated every aspect of this project and made it actually pleasant and worry-free. Even when the county made some additional requirements they kept us up to speed at each turn. If you are ever in the unfortunate position of needing to have an entirely new septic system installed these are your people! We cannot give higher praise than finding people who are honest, do great work and are kind. The Turnocks' Family check ALL the boxes.β β Sonja Robbins, βββββ
βWhen my septic system failed I called several different septic companies & due to how complicated the new system had to be Turnocks' Septic Systems was the only company even willing to quote an estimate. Once Turnocks' began working on the new system they were out here every day until it was finished. Our new system requires a pump & wraps around our house. Turnocks' did a great job & I would highly recommend them to anyone else with a complicated septic issue.β β John A, βββββ

βThey were able to do the work without me there! Wonderful! I work 10 hrs a day 6 days a week even amidst the pandemic. The fact that all communication could be done over the phone, including the payment ONCE THE JOB WAS FINISHED was a HUGE help to me. The price matched what was quoted over the phone before the appointment too, which is always a plus.β β TheKarinne09, βββββ
βI like using small businesses anytime possible, and Kruegerβs septic fits the bill. The older gentleman who came out was very friendly, answered my numerous questions and was honest when I asked if my septic looked in dire need of pumping (his reposnse: βno, this looks very averageβ). The price was fair for the work completed (ever looked in a septic tank?). We paid a total of $220. We will be using his services again when we need the septic pumped.β β HEIDEN CONCRETE, βββββ

βWoody gave me a quote of $200 but charged me $300 after he was completed. He was very sarcastic and complained a lot. He only had a 1000 gallon truck so he couldn't even clean out the whole tank and said he'd come back for the rest but there would be another charged of at least $200. Now I am $300 in the hole, tank still has stuff in it and he didn't even clean my filter or put my Lids back on he just left. He told me if I wanted to do it myself to just get a pump and pump it into the woods then wash it down with water. I would never recommend this company.β β Nate Geist, β
βFantastic service! I would highly recommend BT Septic. We had our tank pumped out today and they were on time, very polite, did the work, cleaned up and even coiled my garden hose back up. Less than an hour and they were on their way. Reasonable price & honest.β β Robert Burns, βββββ

Frequently Asked Questions
How often should I pump my septic tank?
Most septic tanks should be pumped every 3-5 years, depending on household size, tank capacity, and water usage. A family of four with a 1,000-gallon tank typically needs pumping every 3 years. Regular pumping prevents solids from entering the drain field and extends your system's lifespan.
How much does septic pumping cost in South Bend?
Septic pumping in South Bend, Indiana typically costs between $300 and $600, depending on tank size (750-1,500 gallons), accessibility, and the service provider. Request quotes from multiple companies listed above for the best price.
What are signs my septic system needs repair?
Warning signs include: slow drains throughout the house, sewage odors near the tank or drain field, standing water or soggy spots in the yard, gurgling sounds in pipes, unusually lush grass over the drain field, and sewage backing up into the home. If you notice any of these, contact a professional immediately.
Do I need a permit for septic installation in Indiana?
Yes, Indiana requires permits for new septic system installations and most major repairs. Permits ensure systems meet health and environmental standards. Your septic installer will typically handle the permit process, but fees are usually $200-$1,000 depending on your location.
How long does a septic system last?
A well-maintained septic system can last 25-40 years or more. Concrete tanks last the longest (40+ years), while steel tanks may only last 15-20 years before rusting. The drain field typically lasts 20-30 years. Regular pumping, proper use, and prompt repairs are key to maximizing your system's lifespan.
What is the difference between a septic tank and sewer?
A septic system is a private, on-site wastewater treatment system owned and maintained by the homeowner. A sewer system connects your home to a municipal treatment plant that processes wastewater from the entire community. Septic systems require regular pumping (every 3-5 years), while sewer systems charge monthly fees for centralized treatment.
