βGreat service and incredibly nice to deal with. They installed a complete septic unit, water, electric, driveway, RV pad and did some excavation. Initially, we experienced a ton of rain when they were supposed to start, pushing back the project a few months, but Ryan and his crew made up for delays, and you can always reach them, as their communication with you is terrific. They were very helpful in finding cost solutions to keep the price reasonable and at the end of the day completed everything under budget and the quality of work was outstanding. I will need some foundation work in the near future and will certainly be calling them for that project!β β Sandy Stallsmith, βββββ
βWe are extremely pleased and satisfied with the work Tennessee Septic completed on our property. From start to finish, the entire process was smooth, well-organized, and clearly explained. Ryan took the time to walk us through each step, answered all our questions, and made sure everything was done exactly as discussed. The land clearing and driveway work turned out great. Communication was excellent throughout, and everything felt very transparent and well planned. We have absolutely no complaints and would highly recommend Ryan to anyone looking for reliable, professional, and high-quality work!β β yanko naveira, βββββ

βBubba Dumps did an amazing job installing a drain field for me. After I called they had it installed in less than a week. These guys are top notch professionals and have earned a life long customer!!β β Tyler, βββββ
βWe had a plumbing issue early this morning and thought it might be our septic system. My wife called Bubba Dumps, and they sent out two young men, Isaac and another gentleman whose name we didnβt catch. Both of them were incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and you could tell right away they were just genuinely great young men. They got our septic cleaned out quickly, but we still had a drain issue inside the house. Instead of leaving it at that, they took the extra time to diagnose the problem and fixed it right away. Their professionalism, work ethic, and willingness to go above and beyond truly impressed us. We highly recommend Bubba Dumps. Outstanding service from start to finish!β β John Allen, βββββ

βHank didn't actually pump our septic tank because he was out of town on vacation. But he was a great help! We discovered that our tank was full at 4:50 on Friday afternoon. I'm talking backing up from a floor drain in our basement every time we flushed a toilet. Hank return my call and gave me advice on what to do, to get by until it could be pumped.β β Tom & Marketta Hudson, βββββ
βGreat service. Wasn't in a rush so he came a few days after calling. I already had the system dug up so he got it pumped in a jiffy. Got a riser from Hank too so it wouldnt need to be dug up again. He came back a day or 2 later with the correct size for my lid. Would recommend to anyone. He always replied to my txts.β β N C, βββββ

βOur toilets and showers were gargling. (Septic tank was full). Someone was at our home IN AN HOUR!!! Mason went above and beyond to help us out. He was VERY personable and professional. I would recommend to anyone !! Great company. Good people.β β John Walker, βββββ
βHad a septic tank completely full and called Valley Plumbing. It was 18 degrees outside when I called and they had a truck to pump the tank at my house in an hour (I live an hour from their business) Mason and Ben were very professional and they know their trade. After pumping both sides of the tank they used a camera to identify a blockage in the field line. Also using the camera to verify the drain line from the house to the tank was clear. They dug out one end of the top of tank in order to pump the liquid side of the tank. A hole had to be drilled in the tank top to insert the pump line because the top would not break loose after 35 years. They developed a path forward plan for resolving the blockage in the drain line that is 56β from the tank and plan to be back tomorrow. Very very happy with their service and knowledge.β β Russell Langley, βββββ

βVery friendly, personable people. They did a great job. They listen to your problems and answers any questions you got. They do not try to take advantage of women that are handling things for the house hold. We have used the twice and will continue to use and recommend. Mike was the best out in the field, did the job right the first time and super kind and friendly.β β Crystal White, βββββ
βA perspective buyer of our home hired this company to do an inspection on our septic tank and to pump it. After the sale fell through, another buyer requested proof that this work had been performed. I contacted this company to only get something showing this. I was told by a guy that answered he would email me something; received nothing.. my wife called and same thing..no email. Later in the day I called back. This time this guy was extremely rude and said he wasn't emailing anything because I wasn't the customer and he didn't care if" I was the owner or not and I'm not disclosing their information to you ". What doesn't make any sense is when I asked so you can't even give me something showing you did the work his response was "all I can do is give your her name and contact info " ????? He just stated he didn't want to disclose her information?!?!. " He then added "the only way I can give you proof is if you pay me 800$ to come and inspect and pump it again". Customer service at its finest. After calling other septic companies, NONE of them understood this and said they would have had no problem providing proof of work they had done. Also, thank you Grace Septic for your awesome customer service when I spoke with you. I don't like giving bad reviews but this company deserves it and people need to know there are alot better out there. I didn't ask for any body's information nor did I take it; I only asked for some proof of a job you did.β β 04shkr, β

βI have to be honest after seeing all these awesome reviews I was hesitant thinking they were fake. But now I see why his reviews are so good. This place is a life saver. I got the Flu then find out my septic tank just belched everything in it into my downstairs living room and then they announced a coming snow storm. I'm so sick I can't even speak and now this. We call this place and he comes immediately. Fixes everything for us and I'm not gonna quote his pricing on here but it was more than fair. Just for coming that quick many companies would have double or tripple charged us. I'm telling you if you got septic tank issues look no further. This is your guy. Put him in your phone book. βIf I could give them 10 stars I would. I am a Realtor and called to get some information for my client and spoke with Zach. He was very open and upfront with his service and I felt comfortable recommending them to my client. My client called and scheduled an appointment and they came out exactly on time 2 days later and Jeremy and Travis were the guys that found the septic, hand dug it due to location, and pumped it. Those 2 guys were awesome! Hard work is an understatement! They are fabulous and both said they loved their jobs and loved people and it showed. βI WOULD NOT recommend this company. I had a very similar experience as the 1 star review by Marcus Steade. Which indicates this is a repeating issue with this company. I Waited 5 days as that was their 1st available...No problem with that. Slow draining tub. I informed the guys that came out I had used a gallon of main line cleaner 3-4 days prior and it had helped, the tub drained quicker than before. We still used the shower and likely had about 100 gallons of water run through it after using the drain cleaner. I showed them the easy access clean out location but they didn't want to use that, they said they would run a snake up from the reverse direction from the septic. They tried for 30 minutes and were not able to get the snake in the pipe hole....So they said they would need to go down from the vent pipe on the roof....No problem with that either.....They said another guy that was more experienced was on his way. They packed up and left. Couple minutes later I get a call from the company saying they couldn't do the job because I had used main line cleaner it was dangerous to their workers. I tried to explain 100 gallons of water had been flushed down after that...to no avail. I did have a couple choice words to the caller. My recommendation is 1) Don't call this company if you have used any extra strength liquid plumber or drain cleaner...Which I assume the vast majority of people try before calling a plumber. 2) If you are the owner of this company, ask callers at the time they call you to schedule an appointment if they have used drain opening products....That way you can tell them right then and there that you don't work on pipes with drain cleaner used on them.....even if flushed out. Had you done that I could have called someone else 5 days ago. Never will you get my business again. Seriously, a plumber that is afraid of drain cleaners is like a tree cutter that is afraid of heights, a carpenter afraid of saws, or an Uber afraid of driving.β β Kevin Kirkpatrick, β
βVery professional and HONEST! They were unable to assist with my issue but gave me detailed instructions on what to communicate to a plumber. Would highly recommendβ β Allison Whitaker, βββββ

βI just had the worst experience with J&J Septic and their project manager Anthony. When I called, the person on the phone was kind and gave me a quote of $288 for a septic system inspection. The person on the phone said we would only have to pay a dig fee if major digging and locating was required. When the technician came out he was directed to where the tank lid was by the homeowner. Our $288 quote quickly became $517 because he had to uncover the tank lid (maybe 4 shovels of dirt). I told him it was unfair not to tell me about those charges up front but he refused to do it for the agreed upon price. I repeatedly brought up the quoted price to which Anthony basically said that was wrong and made every excuse possible to charge us more. Very dishonest and off putting. Took maybe 25 minutes for the entire digging and inspection process which to me clearly indicates no major digging occurred. He also admitted to only uncovering one tank lid instead of both. When we requested to be called by the main office to discuss these charges we were repeatedly lied to about when they would call. Anthony finally called 5 days after the services were performed and the initial request for a phone call was made and got an attitude with us. We requested that his manager call and he got huffy. This company will definitely never get my business or anyone I know again. They scam you out of as much money as possible and try everything they can to avoid making things right. If I could give the company 0 stars I definitely would.β β Cody Watson, β
βJ&J Septic and Estimate Services: We collected three estimates for this project. The company, which goes by Hero when you call them, was the only company that charged us. We paid $99 for the service they provided giving us an estimate (14 mins on site). Before scheduling this service, I asked the office what they charged for pumping a septic. The price I was higher than other companies but within reason. So we schedule the service for them to come out, but when the rep arrived he stated the job would cost over $2,000 more. I told him that his price was more than double the other estimates. He then "found" a way to save $500. But they were still far too overpriced for the additional work. We did not subscribe for the additional service. I imaging Hero subsidizes their business model with a regular infusion $99 fees, which lessons their need to be competitive in pricing for further service. If a septic company's business model operates based on estimates and septic service, they should adjust their name accordingly. UPDATE: When we actually brought a rep out, they discovered that the tank wasn't deep at all. The company we went with was able to hand dig. Final cost $850.β β Major Dalton, ββ

Frequently Asked Questions
How often should I pump my septic tank?
Most septic tanks should be pumped every 3-5 years, depending on household size, tank capacity, and water usage. A family of four with a 1,000-gallon tank typically needs pumping every 3 years. Regular pumping prevents solids from entering the drain field and extends your system's lifespan.
How much does septic pumping cost in Knoxville?
Septic pumping in Knoxville, Tennessee typically costs between $300 and $600, depending on tank size (750-1,500 gallons), accessibility, and the service provider. Request quotes from multiple companies listed above for the best price.
What are signs my septic system needs repair?
Warning signs include: slow drains throughout the house, sewage odors near the tank or drain field, standing water or soggy spots in the yard, gurgling sounds in pipes, unusually lush grass over the drain field, and sewage backing up into the home. If you notice any of these, contact a professional immediately.
Do I need a permit for septic installation in Tennessee?
Yes, Tennessee requires permits for new septic system installations and most major repairs. Permits ensure systems meet health and environmental standards. Your septic installer will typically handle the permit process, but fees are usually $200-$1,000 depending on your location.
How long does a septic system last?
A well-maintained septic system can last 25-40 years or more. Concrete tanks last the longest (40+ years), while steel tanks may only last 15-20 years before rusting. The drain field typically lasts 20-30 years. Regular pumping, proper use, and prompt repairs are key to maximizing your system's lifespan.
What is the difference between a septic tank and sewer?
A septic system is a private, on-site wastewater treatment system owned and maintained by the homeowner. A sewer system connects your home to a municipal treatment plant that processes wastewater from the entire community. Septic systems require regular pumping (every 3-5 years), while sewer systems charge monthly fees for centralized treatment.
