What Customers Say:

β€œI honestly have to say that Michigan Septic was no more than amazing! Our story began with gurgling sounds when I did laundry and when we flushed the toilet. We called and explained to them what was going happening. They scheduled a time to come out to run a camera through our drains & drainfield. In the meantime we had an emergency out of state and had to be away from home for 2 1/2 weeks. They worked with us on having our daughter meet them at our house so they could get this done. The outcome was a bad drainfield, which was 45 years old. They was very understanding of our situation and worked well with us on getting everything in order and ready to replace our old system. They communicated very well, which we greatly appreciated, and had no problem with us contacting them throughout the process and asking questions. Everyone we spoke with was proffessional and friendly, from the office people to the workers. They arrived around 9am and was completely finished at 5pm. The whole system was completed in one day! We had to wait on the county to issue permits before proceeding. So it took 6 1/2 weeks from beginning to end. But our new system is installed and we are back up and running! The inspector verified that we made the right decisions. He told us that he works with Michigan Septic often and that they are a very good company. We highly recommend Michigan Septic and will definitely call them if we ever need work done in the future.” β€” Cindy Ward, ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
β€œAustin came to pump septic. He was early for my appointment was very contentious and professional. Will call them again for any future septic needs. Additional review I needed a new septic tank installed; had Michigan Septic do the installation. Was a challenging installation with several unexpected issues. The crew were awesome and assuring with things not going exactly as planned. The tank was installed. Was very happy with the outcome,” β€” Diane Fisher, ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

β€œAbsolutely amazing!! Called on a Saturday they were able to come out get the septic pumped. The guy helped dig to find the front of my tank. We realize my tank was installed backwards & my pipes from house to the tank were broke. Their prices definitely beat their competitors hands down. I will definitely be using them from now on!!” β€” Angela Hoffman, ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
β€œ5 stars doesn't nearly come close to the service We recieved from Andy at Kevin Burns Septic Services! He deserves more like 100 🌟! In a crappy situation I searched Google for Septic companies near me. I called 5 or 6 total. Two called back.. One couldn't schedule to come to my home for 3-4 days. Andy was at my home within the hour! His price quote was the cheapest! When Andy arrived he noticed i was very busy in the well house trying to "fix" a water issue i discovered. My Husband is an OTR trucker so I try my best to handle home needs. Andy explained he wasn't a well guy but he could take a look after pumping out the Septic. Once he got all set up and started pumping the Septic he gave advice and walked me through what he was doing so I understood the process and warning signs next time this issue might come up. Andy went above and beyond the job requirements and was very kind. Once the septic issue was resolved we went to the well issue to see what the problem could be. Andy discovered a few things causing our issue and had the fittings to fix it. He drove home, got his service truck and drove back to my house to help. We were outside in the rain and cold for a few hours and Andy didn't seem to mind at all. Our Well was fixed and our Septic was empty and all the THANKS go to Andy! He didn't have to help, he could have pumped the poo and went on his way, but he didn't! He seen i was struggling and he helped! He went far ABOVE and BEYOND and really saved the day! I will strongly recommend Andy at Kevin Burns Septic Services to ANYONE who may be stuck in a crappy situation like I was!! A million Thank Yous to Andy and his Family owned business for caring and being willing to help!” β€” Jesica Lynk, ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

β€œI can’t express how happy I am with this company. I sell real estate locally, and we had what we believed was an emergency septic issue. They returned my voicemail within minutes and sent the owner, Joe, out right away. What happened next honestly blew me away. Joe discovered a second septic field that the homeowner didn’t even know existed. We thought the entire system needed to be replaced, but Joe found the second tank within minutes and saved the dayβ€”and the deal. Crisis completely avoided. The next morning, Jared was out first thing to pump the second tank. He had nothing but great things to say about his boss and his boss’s wife, which was refreshing to hear. That kind of respect inside a company usually means they’re doing a lot right. Both Joe, his wife (office mgr) and Jared were professional, honest, and incredibly helpful. We were prepared to pay for a scope and other services we assumed were needed. My client isn’t of great means and did not want to lose this deal, but Joe was upfront and told us none of that was necessary. He didn’t even charge a service fee for his time. Integrity at this level is almost unheard of these days. In real estate, I go the extra mile for my clients, and I deeply appreciate when a company does the same. This is now my go-to septic company, and I will recommend them to everyone who needs septic services.” β€” Rick Ramirez Realtor, ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
β€œI can't stress enough, how wonderful this company is. We had (what we thought was an emergency) issue. They responded to my voicemail in minutes. They sent someone within a few hours. The young man that came was so professional and honest. As it turned out, we did not need our tank pumped and he told me that immediately. I would not have known this and would have gladly paid him to do it. He did not even charge me a service fee for his time. To find a company with this level of integrity is very rare in this day and age. We will recommend them to everyone we know that needs septic services.” β€” Erica Kochevar, ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Could not recommend them strongly enough.” β€” Jason Eastman, ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
β€œThey fit us in the schedule right away, which was nice. Found out the previous company didn't do a good job, if the job was even done at all, so the tank was pretty full unknowingly. β€œI had a old clay pipe crack in November. I had a company working on the replacement, they had GA Hunt come out and do the excavation. They came out in a timely manner and did a great job. I have a friend who used to work in the housing commission here in town and she recommended this company right off the bat. How does my front yard look? Well, it looks like it's been dug up, it's not beautiful, but hey, I'll deal with that in the spring. GA Hunt did the job, did it fast and did what they were supposed to. I didn't personally deal with them, my drain guy did, but I CAN say I highly recommend them. πŸ’―β€ β€” A Marines, ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
β€œ(Would give zero or minus stars if I could) We paid $1,600 for a service that lasted less than two hours. They dug up the area, found no issue, and simply covered it back up β€” and that was it. They did absolutely nothing to repair or restore the grass, which is now completely ruined. No real resolution, no proper cleanup, and certainly not worth the price. I’m extremely disappointed and do not recommend their service. Below is the invoice description. 3/11/2025 Waterline repair Excavated area of sink hole to expose waterline but could not keep up with the water flow with three pumps running. After several different attempts to shut off the water flow, it was determined that the main to the city was leaking and following the bore hole to new gas line and it was coming up in the yard. $1600!! My whole point of reviewing is the price! Just digging and covered. Done by less than half an hour, changed $1600!!” β€” Jinsook 'Jin' Choi, ⭐

Frequently Asked Questions

How often should I pump my septic tank?

Most septic tanks should be pumped every 3-5 years, depending on household size, tank capacity, and water usage. A family of four with a 1,000-gallon tank typically needs pumping every 3 years. Regular pumping prevents solids from entering the drain field and extends your system's lifespan.

How much does septic pumping cost in Lansing?

Septic pumping in Lansing, Michigan typically costs between $300 and $600, depending on tank size (750-1,500 gallons), accessibility, and the service provider. Request quotes from multiple companies listed above for the best price.

What are signs my septic system needs repair?

Warning signs include: slow drains throughout the house, sewage odors near the tank or drain field, standing water or soggy spots in the yard, gurgling sounds in pipes, unusually lush grass over the drain field, and sewage backing up into the home. If you notice any of these, contact a professional immediately.

Do I need a permit for septic installation in Michigan?

Yes, Michigan requires permits for new septic system installations and most major repairs. Permits ensure systems meet health and environmental standards. Your septic installer will typically handle the permit process, but fees are usually $200-$1,000 depending on your location.

How long does a septic system last?

A well-maintained septic system can last 25-40 years or more. Concrete tanks last the longest (40+ years), while steel tanks may only last 15-20 years before rusting. The drain field typically lasts 20-30 years. Regular pumping, proper use, and prompt repairs are key to maximizing your system's lifespan.

What is the difference between a septic tank and sewer?

A septic system is a private, on-site wastewater treatment system owned and maintained by the homeowner. A sewer system connects your home to a municipal treatment plant that processes wastewater from the entire community. Septic systems require regular pumping (every 3-5 years), while sewer systems charge monthly fees for centralized treatment.
