βIf I could give more stars, I would. I cannot express enough how stressful today was before the crew at Brian's alleviated it. We had a (not so) sudden blockage that, on surface level, looked a lot worse than it ended up being. We called and spoke with Jessica, who was an absolute sweetheart. She took our concerns seriously, was not judgmental, and was able to get a crew out in just a few hours. She assured us that we would be taken care of so we weren't carrying this worry and stress over the weekend. And she followed through on that assurance. Hunter and Landon came out to take care of our problem. They were both extremely professional but also personable. Hunter was also extremely knowledgeable, and has an amazing memory, as he recalled doing the drainage and inspection in preparation for us moving in to our house. He was able to answer all of my questions, give us great recommendations without trying to "upsell", and he and Landon worked quickly and efficiently to get us taken care of. I highly recommend this company, and we will continue to use them in the future.β β Jason Simmons, βββββ
βThese guys know their shit! Everyone i dealt with from the office to the guys on the ground were professional, timely, and personable. No hesitation to answer questions about the new system. They even leveled out the yard perfectly after they were done, no landscaping needed , just sod. The electrician wiring the new pump and control box was awesome. He found a pre-existing sub panel that was unused, which saved breaker panel space, and didnβt complain a bit for having to go through my 12β crawl space. Brianβs takes pride in their work, which is hard to come by these days. 1000% recommend them. Thanks again guys.β β Noah Siets, βββββ

βWe had a new septic system installed for our small townhouse community and were so very pleased with excellent customer service, communication and the job on the installation. They were professional, courteous and thorough. They dug up old tanks and parts, installed a total of 6 new tanks, aerators, etc and upon completion of burial, J J and his crew smoothed out the soil with hand rakes. And to our pleasant surprise they sowed grass seed and covered that with hay. Cannot recommend Apalacheeβs J J and his crew more highly.β β Sharon J Smith, βββββ

βI called Capital City Septic to inquire about a residential septic pump out for two tanks and they were able to get me on the schedule for the next day at a very reasonable price (compared to some of the other big vendors in town). Their tech that called me on service day was very nice and made the experience very pleasant, they were even able to get to me earlier in the day. I would definitely recommend Capital City Septic to anyone in need of this service.β β David Walker, βββββ
βWe we had the company come out and pump our septic tank after we had a back up in the toilet and shower. While they did come out fairly quick and the people that performed the service seemed to be doing a good job we thought all is well. Six months later, our septic tank was backed up again, we ended up calling a different company to come out and service it. We then realize that capital city only pumped out the first half of the septic tank and left the second half with the Outlet filter Not pumped or cleaning the outlet filter causing it to get backed up again. We then tried to call the company and they tried to blame us for not letting them know that both halfs needed to be pumped out.. How are we supposed to know that this need to be done as well as cleaning the outlet filter? We were told that the manager would call us later that day to discuss a remedy or our problems. We never received a call so we then called them again later in the afternoon and they said they will call us the next morning as of today that is still not happened. It makes me wonder if they did this intentionally knowing theyβd have to be back out six months to re-pump the tank again and charge us another $500. Do not use this company.β β Ray Johnson, β

βI was referred to this business by a family member that used them and expected good service from them but that was not the case. I called Gloria to request for service over a month ago and she took two weeks to email me a service agreement. βBefore hurricane Irma came through Tallahasee I had septic back up. No one could come out because of downed trees blocking access to my home. Several other Tallahasee septic companies told me over the phone my problem was most likely my drain fields. A very expensive problem. Not Big Bend Septic! The owner Dennis Grey took time on the phone to explain the septic system to me. Next day his crew Chris and Doug came out and showed and taught me about my system. I knew very little about septic systems. 5 stars because they were very knowledgeable and honest!!! Very fair with prices. I knew I could trust them! Now both my neighbors will hire them as well.β β Beth Murray, βββββ
βI cannot say enough about Big Bend Septic. They are just exceptional with helping out with an emergency during the afternoon of Christmas Eve. I was in the kitchen preparing dinner in the crockpot and also doing laundry. You know how us women like to multitask around the house. Anyway, I heard a bad gurgling sound coming from the kitchen sink and also from the hall bathroom but didn't pay too much mind to it. When I was finished with the meal prep, I was going to transfer the laundry from the washer to the dryer, however, a flood-filled hallway and hall bathroom stopped me. We found that it was the septic tank that was overfilled. Yuck. We had the tank pumped earlier this year, but having three extra people stay with us for a few months made for more bathroom time, more laundry time....you know the drill. So the tank filled up much quicker than normal. Now to make a long story short, we called a few septic places but being Christmas Eve and them having other emergencies, they couldn't get to us today. We finally called Big Bend Septic and Dennis, the wonderful gentleman who answered the phone, said that they could get to us later today. Oh my gosh, we were ecstatic!! An hour or so later, the fellow was here and pumped the tank all clean. It cost more than usual being an emergency and right before a holiday, but I honestly didn't mind because we needed it pumped ASAP. I am just amazed how quick and nice everyone with the company was to us and how quickly they came to the rescue. I believe they will have our business from now on. Thank you, Big Bend Septic!β β Linda Friedlander, βββββ

βThank you Mr. Dan for sending someone out at our time of need. Very professional and courteous. David and Willie James came out and got right on the job. They worked together and got the job done correctly. We appreciate it. Mr. Dan had said it would be late evening, instead it was shortly after noon. The price was lower than anyone else in the area. If you need your septic done these are the first to call. I checked around for pricing and no one could beat it. Again thank you so much for your service.β β Mrs. Feet, βββββ
βI paid Dan at Talquin Septic $525 in June 2022 to do a septic inspection and pump out for a house I was buying. I was told it was all done and cleared inspection. In August 2022, when the house was purchased, I didn't see where he had inspected it. I wasn't even sure where the septic tank was as there was no sign of freshly dug up dirt to see where he was working. We figured he must have used a camera or some other, less invasive way to inspect. Fast forward to this week (January 2024.) I had a septic problem. Called Dan and he immediately (within 10 minutes!) sent someone out. We were pleased with the response time, but disappointed to learn that the septic tank and drain field were full of roots and that it hadn't been pumped out in June like we paid for. The drain field was covered in decades old azaleas and there is no way that he wouldn't have noticed that. Because of the root issues with the septic and the drain field, we were quoted $7,000 to replace both. Now we know that he didn't inspect or pump out the system in 2022, but he still took our $525. My husband emailed Dan to ask for an explanation days ago and has not received a reply. If we knew the state of the septic tank, we might not have even purchased this house, as $7,000 for a new system (which supposedly passed inspection in June 2022) isn't in our budget. I usually bite my tongue when it comes to small businesses and bad reviews, but I believe that we were scammed. We will never do business with Talquin Septic again.β β Kim Layer, β

Frequently Asked Questions
How often should I pump my septic tank?
Most septic tanks should be pumped every 3-5 years, depending on household size, tank capacity, and water usage. A family of four with a 1,000-gallon tank typically needs pumping every 3 years. Regular pumping prevents solids from entering the drain field and extends your system's lifespan.
How much does septic pumping cost in Tallahassee?
Septic pumping in Tallahassee, Florida typically costs between $300 and $600, depending on tank size (750-1,500 gallons), accessibility, and the service provider. Request quotes from multiple companies listed above for the best price.
What are signs my septic system needs repair?
Warning signs include: slow drains throughout the house, sewage odors near the tank or drain field, standing water or soggy spots in the yard, gurgling sounds in pipes, unusually lush grass over the drain field, and sewage backing up into the home. If you notice any of these, contact a professional immediately.
Do I need a permit for septic installation in Florida?
Yes, Florida requires permits for new septic system installations and most major repairs. Permits ensure systems meet health and environmental standards. Your septic installer will typically handle the permit process, but fees are usually $200-$1,000 depending on your location.
How long does a septic system last?
A well-maintained septic system can last 25-40 years or more. Concrete tanks last the longest (40+ years), while steel tanks may only last 15-20 years before rusting. The drain field typically lasts 20-30 years. Regular pumping, proper use, and prompt repairs are key to maximizing your system's lifespan.
What is the difference between a septic tank and sewer?
A septic system is a private, on-site wastewater treatment system owned and maintained by the homeowner. A sewer system connects your home to a municipal treatment plant that processes wastewater from the entire community. Septic systems require regular pumping (every 3-5 years), while sewer systems charge monthly fees for centralized treatment.
