What Customers Say:

β€œA business neighbor recommended Lapin for a new septic system and drain field, and I'm glad we did. The first company to give an estimate said we had to remove a beautiful large oak tree because it was too close to our drain field, and Gary told us we didn't need to touch it. That right there helped sell us. Besides needing a new septic system, we have major plumbing issues due to another tree growing roots in our house pipes. Chad Powell, and another gentleman, came out, jetted and drilled the roots out of our pipes so water could flow once again while we wait for the septic permits. Besides being a One-Stop company for most house water needs, the 10% discount for future services if they install a drain field, will help a lot when we have any future problems.” β€” Wayne Lopez Escobar, ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
β€œI had an excellent experience with Andres DeJesus and his work partner from Lapin Services. They were both extremely professional, efficient, and took the time to explain the function of my septic system in a way I could easily understand. Their knowledge and patience were truly appreciated. I highly recommend themβ€”outstanding service!” β€” Maria Fernandez, ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

β€œBud's was the number one recommendation from a Google search, and I'm glad I took their advice. They came back with a same-day quote. It turned out my service was considerably less than the quoted amount, which was really a worst-case scenario. Their office kept in touch with me through all aspects of the project development, including permit filing and inspection by the county. The drain field construction materials were the latest and the application extensive. They finished the project off nicely with a hay and seed topper. I couldn't be more pleased knowing I got the best service as well as contributing to a local merchant.” β€” Clemson Engineer, ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

What Customers Say:

β€œSince Wind River acquired Brownie's it has sucked. We used Brownie's for 12 years with zero issues. Two years ago we had issues with Wind River for an appointment to inspect and pump out. Three weeks ago I made another appointment, this time to replace a high level float and alarm that are old and dilapidated. Also, something in the septic system continues to trip the GFCI receptacle to which equipment is connected. A local electrician inspected and replaced the outlet and installed a new one and informed us that the septic equipment is tripping the GFCI. I made the appointment a week in advance for a Friday. They no-showed, first claiming "nobody answered the door" (a lie, I was home all day), then said they called a number on the account (my wife's) despite me giving them my contact number when scheduling. So they came the next day, a Saturday, knowing we wouldn't be home. The service tech dug up the lid to our system, supposedly checked everything and called me (the correct number this time) and told me nothing is wrong and everything is working fine. He told me he did not have the high level float and alarm on the truck and someone would return on Monday. Two days later, the GFCI tripped again. Wind River never called and never returned to replace the high level float and alarm (which I plainly asked to be replaced when I made the appointment) or further diagnose what is tripping the GFCI. They left a mess but they made sure to charge my credit card, which they insist having on file before coming to your location, for $176. Don't walk away from these clowns, run.” β€” Snorman9, ⭐
β€œThey were very helpful from the moment I made the phone call. I only needed pump out service. Jean S was our service person and found the tanks (we didn’t know where the tanks were at). The yard was left in great shape - no messes. He was very helpful and obviously knew his job, well. Bad news was - I had 2 tanks! He was awesome! I strongly recommend the service! Thank You, Jean!” β€” Angelina Pera, ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

What Customers Say:

β€œAbsolutely horrible experience. We were quoted $325 for a septic inspection and pump out, which seemed like a great price. After they dug up our yard, we all discovered together that the system included two tanks and a dosing tank. Instead of being honest and giving a fair updated price, they jacked the total to over $1,000 on the spot. What makes this even worse is that my fiancΓ© called the company while they were still working in our yard and asked for a quote to pump out two tanks. They told her $600. That proves they intentionally ripped us off at our own home. This is a textbook bait-and-switch operation. They lure you in with a great price, then once your entire yard is dug up, they raise the cost dramatically because they know you have no choice. On top of that, they ran over my neighbor’s internet pole, then tried to just stand it back up like nothing happened. Completely unprofessional β€” and now the responsibility will probably fall on us or the neighbor. After checking more reviews, it’s clear this company has a history of doing this to people. Never again. Dishonest, misleading, and absolutely not trustworthy.” β€” josue linares, ⭐
β€œTim was awesome. Came and did his work professionally, was done before the time estimated and was very friendly and instructions were easy to follow. ❀️ thank you Tim!!!” β€” Cristalida Benitez, ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Wilmer and the entire crew delivered an outstanding system. Thank you!” β€” Kay Collie, ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
β€œUpdated to respond to owner: This condescending response as well as similar responses to negative reviews do not resonate with a customer focused business. I am however glad to hear that I have taught you something, because when I mentioned that this was a hazard, the employee I spoke with expressed no concern whatsoever. NO ONE offered to replace the lid until I called repeatedly, stating how this is not acceptable due to the safety and environmental hazard it presents and the company’s proposed solution was to β€œsend dispatch with a piece of particle board and charge for the visit”. Unless you are the technician who I spoke with or the one who actually performed the work (since you did not mention your name in your response) I honestly don’t understand how you can be attesting to the events that occurred. Yes a replacement is needed but I am failing to see how this was a professional way to deal with the problem presented to you. This is literally the third explanation I have received regarding what happened to the tank lid. There is no need to try to shift blame, you keep implying that I β€œmust have know” these things, however I am not the one that works in the profession. You have shown your potential and past customers far better than I ever could the true nature in your company’s integrity and manner that you conduct business. Original post: Total septic performed a pump on my system. Informed me of needed repairs, and left the entire septic tank completely open, save the caution tape and four thin stakes. I have children, live across from a park where small children play all the time, temperatures have exceeded the 90s this week and it has rained daily. Have called them back multiple times and the woman who answers the office phone has told me that they are not responsible to cover it, refused to let me speak to anyone who may be of more assistance and that she β€œonly answers the phones to help out”. Not only has this company shown blatant disregard for this being a health and environmental hazard, they are extremely unprofessional in my attempts to solve this issue.” β€” Ashley P, ⭐

β€œTo say that we didn't know how wonky our septic system would be when we bought our house is an understatement. Septic Dominators helped us out of a jam last year, but things weren't "normal" (and not their fault, again, the situation is just wacky). When I tell you that Jessica and Cody have been the best EVERY step of the way, I assure you that I am not being overzealous. They are laid back, they don't jerk you around, they'll show you the exact problem, they'll answer any question, won't make you feel bad for being curious or freaking out about your home - basically, if all companies were like this, America would be a lot better off. Services Offered: Septic Services

What Customers Say:

β€œOur 2-year old septic system had a pump failure in December 2024. We called out A1 Septic Service, and after nearly 2-weeks and $4,000 in work to replace the pump, we started having GFI issues. It turns out that the alarm wire going in to the tank was cut. A1 says they will not cover the repair as they cannot be sure that they're the one who cut the wire. However, the alarm was working prior to their service, we never had a GFI issue prior to their service, they cut the old pump cords going into the tank, and no one has been in the tank since. I guess what they're proposing is that some random trespasser dug up our yard, opened the tank, randomly decided to cut that cord (leaving all the other cords in tact) and then covered everything back up. While I do not have video coverage of their tech cutting the cord on the installation date- they're the only company who has ever been in our septic system. Lesson learned- video before, during and after your service, or better, choose a company who will stand behind their work. UPDATE 2/24/25 after owners reply: - correction $3100 see photo for charges - I called to request the owner of A1 to remove our phone number and residential address for privacy concerns, and the general manager (Freddie) refused- stating "this is how we handle reviews" which I can only assume means to extort people by exposing their personal contact information in hopes they will remove the review. (update, since you've posted our number, anyone who would like to review the full video or discuss our interaction with A1 is welcome to call us.) - when we placed the call for pump trouble we explained the GFI was tripping, the phone rep did not say there would be a service charge, nor did she say they had no openings and they "had to squeeze us in. She politely said they would be out tomorrow between 12-5. - the phone call Monday AM was not in relation to waiving any service call charges, it was to see if they would take responsibility for cutting the wrong wire. After we were told they were not going to fix the alarm they offered to waive the service charge that we were not aware even existed. To us this was a warranty call. - the owners reply "if we had cut the cord... then the pump would not have worked perfectly for two months." - they cut the alarm cord, and it would only trip the GFI randomly when that wire would get wet. It happened 5-6 times over the last two months and through process of elimination we figured out which devices were tripping the GFI. - at the close of the phone call Freddie informed me that since we left them a negative google review, he said he's now going to charge us $275 for the 20 minute visit to our home. Fortunately, I have a video and audio of the entire interaction from the tech who visited on 2/22/25. Within 10 seconds of opening the tank lid he saw the problem. Google only allows 29 second videos- so there are 3 of this interaction- 2:49:19 "So I found your problem". "There's no alarm wire coming into your tank" 2:49:29 "I didn't notice that before" (this was the tech who gave us the quote, since he noticed in 15 seconds this time he and the other tech would surely have noticed this "cut wire") 2:49:39 "you have your old wires from your old pump". (these were cut by the install tech Joe who did the pump install) 2:49:44 "you can see that wire is cut, i don't know if that was something Joe did". (We didn't have GFI issues before Joe's install and Joe cut the other wires to the old pump... no one else was in our tank but Joe.) 2:49:57 "the moisture is getting on the end of that wire there, and its tripping the GFI". (to the A1 Septic owner who ask why the pump has worked... it works until the alarm wire gets wet and trips the GFI." 2:50:18 "I don't recall anything about the the alarm"” β€” Kenny G, ⭐
β€œI called this company on Friday, the 31st, to request septic tank cleaning service. The technicians arrived while I was not home, and my wife contacted me by phone. I asked them to also check a leak in another tank, and they agreed. When I asked for the total price, including the main septic tank cleaning service, they told me it would be $1,575, which I approved. However, when I returned home, I found that the septic tank had not been cleaned. I contacted customer service to request clarification and to speak with a manager, but no one has returned my call. The secretary, Jessica, showed a poor attitude and was unprofessional. It’s disappointing to receive this kind of service, especially from a company that should value professionalism and customer satisfaction. I hope management reviews this case and improves the way they handle their clients.” β€” Saulo Sanchez, ⭐

β€œDisorganized mess. Missed my first appointment for septic service completely. When I called, they said it was put in the wrong system and sent someone out who showed up with no warning, dug several holes in my yard, stated he didn't have the tools to complete the job, and would be back on Saturday. Never showed back up or heard from him again. Definitely would not recommend due to the poor communication and unprofessional team members.” β€” Mallory Hoffmeyer, ⭐

β€œMathis was able to provide same day service to my home when I was in a bind, unable to use any of my fixtures since drains were backing up. The first person that arrived was kind, professional, and tried his best but could not find the tank lid. He contacted another guy to come help. The second guy, I think there were two actually, not only helped find the tank lid but went above and beyond to help fix my issue. He explained septic maintenance and when pumping it out and doing the normal stuff they do didn’t make it possible to flush my toilet, he offered to clean out the drain line and explained the extra cost. He even politely interrupted my calling a plumber to make sure I understood they could jet the drain line, which saved me money bc I wasn’t paying a whole separate company for their entire fee (obviously it’s cheaper to have someone who is already there do a task than to pay for a whole second service call from another company that focuses on plumbing rather than septic). They kept working at it until the job was complete. I’m very happy with both of the gentlemen that I spoke to in person and recommend Mathis. They were thorough and helpful and there were no hidden charges. Another company I called charges less…UNTIL you factor in their β€œtrip fee” which is idiotic. If they can pump out a septic tank via zoom, then I guess it makes sense to charge a trip fee if they have to show up. But since that’s not a thing, that’s dumb. Just give me the price: Mathis does thatβ€”they tell you the price and tell you the details of additional charges if there are extra things they recommend or find that need to be done.” β€” Desiree Hernandez, ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
β€œWe recently contracted Mathis & Sons Septic, LLC. and had a magnificent experience with this company, its owner and staff. First I have to say, that after calling and reading countless reviews for septic companies who could come to our assistance with our septic system, I decided to hire Mathis & Sons, because some other companies were very impersonal, greedy and others had the worst customer service you could imagine. They kept telling me that someone would give me a call back in 24 to 48 hours, but they never did. Other company told me that it would take 3 to 4 weeks to get the permits for a new septic system installed, before starting the job. Believe or not but Mathis & Sons got the permit in 10 Days! Also the price was very reasonable. This company is family owned, and by which you receive a more personalized treatment, they made every effort to be efficient, professional and their technicians are permanently supervised by the company owner himself, and I always prefer to support a family owned business. Therefore, I had the privilege of being taken care by the owners themselves. I recalled when I first contacted the company, I had Johnny take care of my call, he was very professional and very attentive to answer all my questions, really an amazing person, very knowledgeable and with great people skills. Promptly and in couple days, I had the owner coming to my house to do an evaluation and estimate, he was very helpful in explaining every detail of the work that needed to be done, as far as I can tell, he left nothing out. He also came to my house the day of service, he walked me through the process from start to finish, before they started the job. The team at Mathis & Son Septic,LLC was prompt, professional, and quick on the job. They finished in record time, same day, Pedro and his team who installed my new septic tank and drain field, are real dare devils, very professional and very nice, respectful and considerate. Kudos to Mr. Mathis, the owner, and his team because they went above and beyond to provide us with the best service experience. Thank you so much for a great job. I would happily recommend their service to anyone looking for their line of expertise.” β€” Liliana Terry, ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Frequently Asked Questions

How often should I pump my septic tank?

Most septic tanks should be pumped every 3-5 years, depending on household size, tank capacity, and water usage. A family of four with a 1,000-gallon tank typically needs pumping every 3 years. Regular pumping prevents solids from entering the drain field and extends your system's lifespan.

How much does septic pumping cost in Orlando?

Septic pumping in Orlando, Florida typically costs between $300 and $600, depending on tank size (750-1,500 gallons), accessibility, and the service provider. Request quotes from multiple companies listed above for the best price.

What are signs my septic system needs repair?

Warning signs include: slow drains throughout the house, sewage odors near the tank or drain field, standing water or soggy spots in the yard, gurgling sounds in pipes, unusually lush grass over the drain field, and sewage backing up into the home. If you notice any of these, contact a professional immediately.

Do I need a permit for septic installation in Florida?

Yes, Florida requires permits for new septic system installations and most major repairs. Permits ensure systems meet health and environmental standards. Your septic installer will typically handle the permit process, but fees are usually $200-$1,000 depending on your location.

How long does a septic system last?

A well-maintained septic system can last 25-40 years or more. Concrete tanks last the longest (40+ years), while steel tanks may only last 15-20 years before rusting. The drain field typically lasts 20-30 years. Regular pumping, proper use, and prompt repairs are key to maximizing your system's lifespan.

What is the difference between a septic tank and sewer?

A septic system is a private, on-site wastewater treatment system owned and maintained by the homeowner. A sewer system connects your home to a municipal treatment plant that processes wastewater from the entire community. Septic systems require regular pumping (every 3-5 years), while sewer systems charge monthly fees for centralized treatment.
