All About Septic

“This company completely took advantage of my 74-year-old mother, and it makes me sick. She called them because her plumbing was backing up. They came out and said her septic tank was full, charging her $450 just for that visit. They then sent someone the next day to pump the tank. When I saw the bill, I was absolutely shocked. They charged $475 just to pump the tank, plus $150 for a “heavy solids and scum” fee, $150 for a weekend fee (it was a Saturday), and $150 to dig up two septic lids. That came to $925 just to pump a septic tank. It gets worse. They didn’t even bother to cover the septic lids back up with dirt. When my husband stopped by later that same day, he noticed the tank wasn’t even fully emptied. We took pictures, and you can clearly see it was not pumped out. There is no possible way that amount could have accumulated in just a few hours from an elderly woman living alone. I immediately called the company and asked them to come back and finish the job. I was told they were “too busy” and could come out Monday. No one showed up. When I called again, I was spoken to rudely and told they would send someone “as soon as possible.” That was three weeks ago. Three weeks later, no one has returned, the job was never completed, and my elderly mother was left taken advantage of and disrespected. This company should be ashamed of how they treat people—especially seniors. I would strongly warn anyone to stay far away.”

“Was able to schedule appointment for septic pump just a week out. Good communication from office with estimated arrival time on day of service. Technician arrived within time frame given. He quoted me a price for digging before proceeding with the work. He was polite and pleasant to do business with.”

“$475 to pump my tank and they do warn you about the $150 heavy waste charge. I didn't think that since no extra equipment was needed to pump my tank and no wipes or anything other than waste was being flushed that I was O.K All they used was the standard hose from the truck and It was pumped 4 years ago and they didn't charge that then. I can't help but think that was a rip off forgive me if Im wrong...Other places are cheaper to get your septic Pumped. They did pump it and come out on Christmas eve so two stars. Thank you, and Merry Christmas to you as well. I called every other septic service in town for quotes on pumping a septic tank. None of them charge an additional “heavy solids” or “sludge” fee, nor do they charge separately for disposal. One company mentioned that in rare cases a crud-buster device might be needed to mix the waste to liquefy it so it can be pumped, but they said they would need to inspect the tank first before determining whether any additional labor cost would apply. Your extra charge appears to be an added disposal fee passed on to the customer—one that no other company I contacted applies. I called five other companies in this area and specifically asked about this. Charging $625 to pump a 1,000-gallon tank? I thought you might find this unreasonable, but it seems obvious now that this place teaches shady business practices.”
