βThe Metcalf team did a great job on replacing my septic tank. They turned what could have been a very stressful experience into a good experience. Aidan is very skilled in the use of technology and is thoroughly competent. In fact, it was a family job where each contributed effectively. I highly recommend this company.β β Kathleen Hogan, βββββ
βWe needed our Septic Tank Pumped, so we called around, asking friends who they recommend, plus we checked on the Burnsville HUB to read comments about different Septic Companies. Our search consistently concluded, highly recommending Metcalf Septic Services. We called and set up an appointment with Jeremy, the owner who was friendly and professional. They arrived on time and were efficient, digging up our septic tank and pumping it out. Jeremy brought one of his sons, Cameron who was also friendly and professional. They both work well together and are hard working. If you desire an ethical company who does what they say they will do, then Metcalf is your company. They are a family owned local Christian company. They price their services fairly and appropriately. We were very pleased with Metcalf Septic Services and will strongly recommend them to family and friends. Thank you Jeremy and Cameron. We consider you now as a family member!β β Boone Dog, βββββ

βTop-notch service from beginning to end from Chad and crew. Whole experience was smooth and cheerfully performed at a very fair price for the work done (pump-out and riser install for a well-buried tank). Communication was prompt and informative, Chad was a delight to work with - Nick also - and we loved meeting hard-working mom too! Cleanup so thorough we could hardly see where they had been. Really canβt say enough good about this operation. Conscientious, gracious, trustworthy, caring and efficient service. Recommend 1000%!β β Alison James, βββββ

βJoe and his crew were great to work with. Installed 3BR septic tank and drain field chambers in one day. Was very helpful with information and knowledge. Passed inspection same day, would highly recommend to others.β β Chandler Muscat, βββββ
βThis company had a very limited space to install a second drain field on my property, a new distribution box, and a bull run valve to divert wastewater flow between two separate drain fields. Joe communicated with me every step of the way, and was very conscientious about communicating upsides and downsides to every option available to me with the boundary constraints. I highly recommend this company.β β J W (NC Resident), βββββ

What Customers Say:
βThis company completely took advantage of my 74-year-old mother, and it makes me sick. She called them because her plumbing was backing up. They came out and said her septic tank was full, charging her $450 just for that visit. They then sent someone the next day to pump the tank. When I saw the bill, I was absolutely shocked. They charged $475 just to pump the tank, plus $150 for a βheavy solids and scumβ fee, $150 for a weekend fee (it was a Saturday), and $150 to dig up two septic lids. That came toΒ $925 just to pump a septic tank. It gets worse. They didnβt even bother to cover the septic lids back up with dirt. When my husband stopped by later that same day, he noticed the tank wasnβt even fully emptied. We took pictures, and you can clearly see it was not pumped out. There is no possible way that amount could have accumulated in just a few hours from an elderly woman living alone. I immediately called the company and asked them to come back and finish the job. I was told they were βtoo busyβ and could come out Monday. No one showed up. When I called again, I was spoken to rudely and told they would send someone βas soon as possible.β That wasΒ three weeks ago. Three weeks later, no one has returned, the job was never completed, and my elderly mother was left taken advantage of and disrespected. This company should be ashamed of how they treat peopleβespecially seniors. I would strongly warn anyone to stay far away.β β Terri Davis.Homecrafters, β
βWas able to schedule appointment for septic pump just a week out. Good communication from office with estimated arrival time on day of service. Technician arrived within time frame given. He quoted me a price for digging before proceeding with the work. He was polite and pleasant to do business with.β β Donna Northway, βββββ

βHayden and Shayla were great to work with and just good people. As someone new to a home with a septic tank, they were really helpful at guiding my partner and I through the process of what to know and consider, and teaching us about our tank while doing the inspection and pumping. When questions and concerns arose, they were communicative, understanding, and quick to get the job done, which was all really wonderful when you have a stinky yard! We will definitely be using them again for our future septic needs.β β Kathryn Ray, βββββ
βThey responded immediately to my call. Scheduled an on-site evaluation of the problem the next business day. Spent the next 2 days on site addressing the situation. Pumped tanks and cleared drain lines, filters replaced. Yard was filled in , straw placed in strategic areas. Very pleased with their service. Kept me informed during the entire process. Have other properties and will definitely use them.β β Pamela Lovisa, βββββ

βWe had the best experience! We lost heat on an especially cold day, and had been told by another company that this was a gas Pressure regulator issue. Andrew was here early this morning and stayed until he made sure everything was working well. In addition, he identified the correct problem and fixed it quickly and inexpensively. I canβt speak more highly of them. Great customer service, great communication, great quality in their repairs.β β Lee Shepard, βββββ
βThere are companies that are great and then those who go above and beyond. All About Plumbing is off the chart. I had to have my entire home replumbed due to age and water quality. I had a burst joint late at night and Thomas offered to come out and check it even at the late hour and we were able to shut the water off and wait until the next day. He was quick and efficient in the repair but then delivered the news we needed a major repair. We were given a fair quote and some perks for acting within 30 days of the original repair with offers to replace all the faucets in the house included. We even got a new outdoor faucet to make life more convenient. The largest part of the job was completed in one day with only one little issue which Thomas was very generous in working on himself at no extra cost. The crew was hard working, well managed, polite, and gave me updates and a complete tour of all the fantastic work they had done during the day. Shout out to Peter, Ashton, Alan, and Jesus for all their hard work and professionalism. I canβt recommend these folks enough. The office staff was amazing and courteous about financing and payments and eased my mind with all my concerns. Thank you so very much for a wonderful experience. We will call on you all again!β β S. βI wish I could do two reviews, one for each of the staff that came and cleaned out our septic tank. We had two gentleman show up to do the job. As soon as the gentleman Troy stepped out of the truck, you could tell he didnβt want to do the job. When we told him the septic tank was located in the driveway, you could tell he really didnβt want to do it. I told him when I called the office twice, once to get information and the other to actually schedule the appointment. I told the scheduler that the tank was in the driveway. He blew the information off and said βoh, thatβs just a secretary.β I was given a max price with them digging and uncovering the lids. The younger gentleman with Troy was great he got out of the truck and started to work. No complaints or negative comments. Troy advised me that he was going to have to charge me more for digging and uncovering the lid. I asked how much more and he said $50 more. I told him fine. When they were done and It was time to pay, I asked Troy to pass a message or I even offered to call back in and recommend, they have someone do an estimate to be better aware of the job and make sure the homeowner had a better price. He was very gruff saying, it would cost $500 if they did that. I started to count out the money and when I got to the original agreed on price, he said wow jerked the money from me and said, since I was unhappy with the services that they wouldnβt charge me the extra $50. I tried to explain that I was happy with the service but he was not hearing it. After they left, I was still in disbelief on how he acted from the start and his behavior. After looking at my receipt, I realized that Troy is the owner. I am still baffled that, he would treat/ speak to a client the way he did. Just because Troy is the owner, does not mean he gets to act the way he did. Needless to say we will not be recommending or using AAA septic again. Beware if they pull up and Troy steps out.β β Courtney Patterson, β
βIt is so rare to find an expert in any field of home maintenance/repair that is not trying to extort mega bucks from you. I got quoted $925 by another expert and a laundry list of actions on their estimate sheet. AAA Septic quoted a flat fee on the phone at less than half the price, came out the next day and got the job done in 45 minutes. I am an elderly retired single woman who has been ripped off endless times by ruthless merchants. I want to thank AAA Septic for bringing back old fashioned service and restoring my faith that there are honest workers there who care.β β Kashmyra Asnani, βββββ

βIf I could give zero stars, I would. They did the pump on my house when I bought it eight months ago. Today I had another company come out because we have been backing up. I had the other company come due to the terrible customer service I received on the phone yesterday. This lady sounded like she would rather be doing anything than helping me and basically yelled at me about an appointment. Fast-forward to today, I find out that Abel only pumped 1/2 of my tank, causing it to back up. The other half was never touched. I am beyond furious Update: Becca , whoever that is, called and was mad I left a review. I explained the issue. Or attempted to as she was talking over me the whole time. I was hung up on so I called back. She swore they dumped waste so it was done . I explained they didnβt touch an entire side and she just yelled over me and stated they did the job. They did a HALF JOB. Please steer far away from this awful company and their worse attitude. Iβm happy to recommend a great company who cares and fixed what able just negligently didnβt do. You can see the backup from the side they didnβt touch hereβ β courtney gamburg, β
βI can't say enough positive things about my experience with Able Septic Tank Service. They were friendly and helpful on the phone, and scheduled me quickly. The guys who came out to pump my tank were clearly knowledgeable and friendly, and answered all my questions. I feel much better knowing the ins and outs of my septic system. The price was considerably less than i expected, so I'd recommend Able to everybody.β β fred schuldt, βββββ

Frequently Asked Questions
How often should I pump my septic tank?
Most septic tanks should be pumped every 3-5 years, depending on household size, tank capacity, and water usage. A family of four with a 1,000-gallon tank typically needs pumping every 3 years. Regular pumping prevents solids from entering the drain field and extends your system's lifespan.
How much does septic pumping cost in Asheville?
Septic pumping in Asheville, North Carolina typically costs between $300 and $600, depending on tank size (750-1,500 gallons), accessibility, and the service provider. Request quotes from multiple companies listed above for the best price.
What are signs my septic system needs repair?
Warning signs include: slow drains throughout the house, sewage odors near the tank or drain field, standing water or soggy spots in the yard, gurgling sounds in pipes, unusually lush grass over the drain field, and sewage backing up into the home. If you notice any of these, contact a professional immediately.
Do I need a permit for septic installation in North Carolina?
Yes, North Carolina requires permits for new septic system installations and most major repairs. Permits ensure systems meet health and environmental standards. Your septic installer will typically handle the permit process, but fees are usually $200-$1,000 depending on your location.
How long does a septic system last?
A well-maintained septic system can last 25-40 years or more. Concrete tanks last the longest (40+ years), while steel tanks may only last 15-20 years before rusting. The drain field typically lasts 20-30 years. Regular pumping, proper use, and prompt repairs are key to maximizing your system's lifespan.
What is the difference between a septic tank and sewer?
A septic system is a private, on-site wastewater treatment system owned and maintained by the homeowner. A sewer system connects your home to a municipal treatment plant that processes wastewater from the entire community. Septic systems require regular pumping (every 3-5 years), while sewer systems charge monthly fees for centralized treatment.
